Le-bar nash be-neshak

"Le-bar nash be-neshak" is the opening line spoken by Jim Caviezel in the Missouri Question #2 advertisement. Question #2 gives biotech companies in Missouri a Constitutional right to conduct Embryonic Stem Cell research, without restraint on cloning or human female egg farming. Embryonic Stem Cells come from Embryos, the earliest development stage of every human person. The Embryos are destroyed when the stem cells are harvested, so the person never gets the chance to be born. Proponents of Embryonic Stem Cell research promise a multitude of cures, though no cure has come from any Embryonic Stem cell, while adult Stem Cells are used in multiple therapies and cures. This is why the Venture Capitalists have not funded Embyronic Stem Cell research - as Money guys they don't see the payoff. This is also why the Biotech companies want the government to fund this research.

The promise is the kiss. "Le-bar nash be-neshak" is what Jesus said to Judas in the Garden of Gethsemanie: "You betray me with a kiss." Question #2 is a kiss of death for those at the earliest stages of human development.

Show me State

Voters in Misouri are being lied to about Ballot Question #2. Portrayed as a way to find a cure for all kinds of diseases, Question #2 actually would make it a Constitutional right for Biotech companies to be able to clone embryos, and to pay women to donate their eggs. Michael J. Fox, a nice guy but sadly misled in this case, had made ads supporting this Ballot question. $28M has come from out of state Biotech companies, and millionaires, to fund Fox's ad. James Caviezel, Patricia Heaton, Jeff Suppan, Mike Sweeney and Kurt Warner correct the distortions. See their ad at:

Common and not so good

Fr. Roger J. Landry of the Diocese of Fall River writes that

Voting for the Common Good: A Practical Guide for Conscientious Catholics published by Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good — which is led by former advisors to Senators John Kerry and Hillary Clinton — is nothing other than a well-funded attempt to try to persuade Catholics that it is morally okay to continue to vote for the “personally opposed” pro-choice candidates who have swindled them in the past.”

As I pointed out in Beware False Teachers below, this booklet “is more a [Practical] guide for Contentious Catholics. Or Mendacious Catholics.”

Watch...and Pray

'Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh'

As a Catholic, I had been aware of this passage's significance in a general way, but since my cancer diagnosis two years ago, it has become a command that I know I must heed. What does it mean to 'watch'? Certainly, it means to pray and maybe for some, it is a direct call to spend time in Adoration. Perhaps it means keeping an eye on something. Maybe it means keeping an eye and one's efforts focused on work that needs to be done. Finally, it may mean to witness to something. For this reason, I am asking, indeed, pleading for your help in keeping an eye and mind on the MURDER of INNOCENTS that goes on in our city every Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings at Planned Parenthood. I am also asking that you make a commitment to come out as a public witness for the unborn, unwanted, precious little ones who have no defense against the blade of the abortionist.

All you need to do is to make the commitment in your heart, in prayer, that you will make a public witness, and God will lead you as to when. For this reason, I am not asking at this time for a specific individual timetable. I understand that we all have to live out the trials, responsibilities and obligations of daily life. I also understand the distress that one can feel at making commitments that one cannot keep. So, I think it is best to keep it simple and just ask for the grace to come out to the 'sidewalk' someday soon.

On the practical side, I ask that you discern in what capacity your witness might take. There are three possibilities.

Sidewalk Counseling

Praying and milling about with signs.

Intercessory prayer in the Chapel at Problem Pregnancy during the killing hours.

If you are more comfortable with one or the other, then you can come out at any time and go to your 'post'.(I say this because when I first went out I had no idea what I was doing, where I should go or what I should be saying.) Ideally, we would want as many people at each of the posts as possible.

I will be holding a meeting at Problem Pregnancy in the next month or so. We can discuss ideas for signs, best places to position ourselves and who will do what. If you think you might attend, please email me with convenient times. Another possibility would be to discuss these things electronically. The idea here, though, is not to have meetings, but to get out on the street and save babies.

Finally, I would like to mention and thank Mark Bashour, Tommy Quinn and Fred Moriarty who have already witnessed for the unborn every Saturday, rain or shine, in season and out. May God reward them.

In Christ and Mary,

Voting recommendations:

Governor – basically you are on your own. Democrats and Greens have the trifecta of disqualifying criteria; they are Pro-abortion, Pro-Same-Sex Marriage, and Pro-Embryonic Stem Cell. Deval Patrick has even promised to listen to the TransGender lobby (Yes – there is one) and have State Lawyers punish ‘discrimination’ against Transgendered peoples – which means they could not be fired from Catholic School teaching positions. You could argue the case for Republican Kerry Healy, who only has two disqualifying criteria, the exception being she would allow us to vote on Marriage (though she supports same-sex civil unions). But you’ll have to exercise your own Prudential Judgment between voting for her and not voting.

Attorney General – Larry Frisoli (R) Pro-Life and will go after NAMBLA child predators - see previous post.

Worcester 1st Senate Paul Nordborg (R) over incumbent Harriet Chandler (D)

Worcester 1st Lou Evangelidis is a solid ProLife, over Kaplan (D)

Worcester 2nd Senate Richard Peters (R) over incumbent Edward Augustus (D)

Worcester 3rd Not Sure - Dinatale (D) is against letting us vote on marriage, but also against Embryonic Stem Cell research, while Niemczura (R) did not respond.

Worcester 5th Stephen Comtois (R) over incumbent Anne Gobi (D).

Worcester 6th David Singer (R) over Geraldo Alicea (D). Rod Murphy checked him out, Singer is Pro-Life, and Alicea may lose if he keeps sleeping at the switch.

Worcester 10th Robert Burns (R) over John Fernandes (D)

Worcester 14th Joe Rice (R) over pro-same-sex marriage Pro-Choice James Leary (D)

Frisoli for Attorney General

Larry Frisoli deserves your vote for Massachusetts Attorney General. He’s Pro-Life, and represented the Jeffrey Curley family in their lawsuit against the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA), where he "obtained the largest single jury verdict in the history of Massachusetts.” As Attorney General Larry would work to establish of a uniform statewide child safety law enforcement program to protect children from sexual predators.

He is a nationally known trial attorney. He has appeared many times on television including appearances on CNN, Court TV, Geraldo Rivera, The O'Reilly Factor, Fox News, CBS, NBC, ABC and NECN. He was a Former Vice Mayor in Cambridge, MA, Former Norfolk County Assistant District Attorney, Former President of the Cambridge-Arlington-Belmont Bar Association, Selected "Lawyer of the Year" in 2000 by Lawyers Weekly, the state-wide publication of the legal profession, President of the MA State Soccer Assoc., Member of the MA Bar Association, Middlesex Bar Assoc., Justinian Law Society, etc., Long-time member of Woburn Sportsmen's Assoc., Gun Owner's Action League and Nat'l Rifle Assoc.

Larry’s sister, Mary Ann Harold is the one who started the Quilt of Prayer to end abortion and continues with the Prayers For Life which includes Masses, Rosaries and Divine Mercy Chaplets. This past week, she has been down at EWTN trying to bring the EWTN Catholic Radio Network to New England.

Beware False Teachers

The former religion advisor to Presidential Candidate and abortion absolutist John Kerry has published a Voters Guide, which, no surprise here, claims it is OK for Catholics to vote for Candidates who support and want to expand, abortion. They call themselves 'Catholics in Alliance with the Common Good' (not Catholic in Alliance with the Pope) and their 12-page voter guide is called, 'Voting for the Common Good: A Practical Guide for Conscientious Catholics'. It is more a guide for Contentious Catholics. Or Mendacious Catholics.

Austin Ruse, president of the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute in Washington, called it "a blatant attempt to convince Catholics that they can vote for candidates who are wrong on the primary human rights issue of our time, which is abortion."

The Rev. Joseph Fessio, provost of Ave Maria University in Naples, Fla., said it is "a flight into abstraction" that treats all issues as though they have the same weight. "Some issues are disqualifying issues. You don't vote for someone who kills babies. You don't vote for someone who destroys the family by supporting homosexual marriage."

I recommend sticking with Fr. Torrocco's Voter Guide, or the one from Catholic Answers, available online in English, Spanish and Portuguese. These are Voter Guides in the sense of explaining Catholic theology and how to apply it to voting. The kind of Voter Guide that explains the candidate's position on certain topics such as abortion and same-sex marriage can be found at the Massachusetts Family Institute.
