We should employ all our pious actions in asking for a knowledge of ourselves and contrition of our sins: and we should do this in a spirit of piety. During this period, we shall consider not so much the opposition that exists between the spirit of Jesus and ours, as the miserable and humiliating state to which our sins have reduced us. Moreover, the True Devotion being an easy, short, sure and perfect way to arrive at that union with Our Lord which is Christlike perfection, we shall enter seriously upon this way, strongly convinced of our misery and helplessness. But how attain this without a knowledge of ourselves'?

Apr 28 Fri Pro-life Legal Defense Fund (PLLDF) annual dinner at the Marriott Hotel in Newton. The PLLDF consists of lawyers who provide free legal services in support of the pro-life cause in Massachusetts. Prior to the dinner is a free seminar presented by the Bioethics Defense Fund.

The Massachusetts taxpayer-subsidized health insurance system (MassHealth) is growing out of control, and comprising 40% of the state budget. Combined with other social service programs, such as welfare and the Department of Children and Families, the health and human services component exceeds 57% of the budget, crowding out items like our roads and bridges and our education system. This is unsustainable.

State Rep. Jim Lyons has proposed a MassHealth Reform plan that;
1. Means tests by asking those currently on taxpayer-subsidized MassHealth plans to contribute to cost-sharing and pay their fair share, especially those making up to $72,000 a year and currently while having their health care covered completely by the taxpayers.
2. Levels the playing field, by rewarding employers doing the right thing, and requiring those receiving state-subsidized plans to be working or looking for work.

The Renew Massachusetts Coalition agrees with Rep. Lyons. If you do too, Let them know
