The 16 abortion facilities in Massachusetts are not licensed or inspected, and in 2007, Laura Hope Smith died in one. After her death, inspection showed that the facility lacked proper medical equipment and the staff did not have the necessary training. No one knows how many abortions are performed or the conditions in these facilities. The Board of Health is required to inspect tanning facilities every six months. Shouldn't facilities performing risky surgical procedures also be inspected and safe? Massachusetts Citizens for Life has proposed a local ballot initiative in several districts to raise public awareness of the problem and demand action.

Question Text:
SHALL THE STATE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THIS DISTRICT BE INSTRUCTED TO VOTE IN FAVOR OF LEGISLATION THAT REQUIRES ALL NON-HOSPITAL FACILITIES PERFORMING MORE THAN 10 ABORTIONS A YEAR TO BE LICENSED AS "CLINICS" AND TO BE INSPECTED AT LEAST EVERY TWO YEARS BY THE MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH?
This public policy question is on the ballot in the following State House Districts:
3rd Worcester-Question #6
4th Worcester-Question #5
16th Worcester-Question #5
6th Bristol-Question #5
7th Bristol-Question #5
