Divine Mercy Friday

40 Days for Life
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Gal 6:9) contact Lee Crowley, Vigil Coordinator
The vigil is the most visible part of any 40 Days for Life campaign and, unfortunately, the vigil calendar is not yet as full as we’d like it to be. That is why we need YOU to come and pray. Without people praying peacefully on the sidewalk, no one is there to give witness to the horror that is abortion in our community.

The Boston Pilot, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Boston, published an article about the recent Pro-Family Lobby Day. Each year, Catholic Citizenship co-hosts a Lobby Day at the State House with leaders from the Coalition for Marriage and Family and Mass Family Institute. The paper has published articles about our work in the past; be it the annual Lobby Day or an interview about legislation.

Tantasqua Regional School Committee recently became the fourth school district to allow parents the ability to opt their children out of the field testing of the Common Core's PARCC assessment. Norfolk School Committee, Chaired by Shawn Dooley who recently won a special election for the State House of Representatives, was the first school district in the Commonwealth to vote to allow parents the option. Worcester Public School Committee has also voted to give parents the same right. Northampton has sought to opt out of the field test altogether.

The controversy starts with Common Core Standards which are the Federal education standards that the Obama Administration has coerced states into adopting. These Federal standards take away local control and for Massachusetts, which already has some of the highest standards in the nation, they lower the standards.
