Lead me on Kindly, Light of Truth

Deacon Jack Sullivan spoke at the Worcester Diocese 11th annual Men's Conference yesterday, Sat. March 26, 2011, about the "divine favor" he received which was counted as the miracle needed for John Henry Cardinal Newman's beatification last September by Pope Benedict XVI.

Deacon awake 6 June 2000 with horrific pain in his legs, and barely able to walk. CAT scans revealed all lumbar vertebrae and disks had turned inward, pinching his spine, squeezing it from a normal diameter of about the size of a Quarter down to the diameter of a piece of string. He was told he would need surgery ASAP, and that he would have to quit his studies for the Permanent Diaconate. He went home, surfed TV, and stopped on EWTN, watching a show on Cardinal Newman and his difficulties and sufferings he endured as a result of converting from Anglicanism to Catholicism. At the end of the show, a banner displayed saying "If you receive any divine favors as a result of praying to Cardinal Newman for his Intercession, please contact ..."

Deacon Jack prayed of Cardinal Newman, "Please Cardinal Newman, help me to walk so that I can return to my Diaconate Studies." He went to bed, and woke up the next morning pain free.

MRIs still showed the disfigurement of his backbone and spinal cord, but since Deacon was asymptomatic, his surgeon took a wait and see approach to surgery. Deacon Jack finished the next two semesters of his third year of Diaconate studies, about 9 months, and prepared for some time off in the summer of 2001. The pain returned in all its fury.

Surgury revealed that his duromata, the protective sheath that holds the spinal fluid, was shredded. He could not walk without being hunched over and without assistance. He prayed the same prayer again. "Please Cardinal Newman, help me to walk so that I can return to my Diaconate Studies."

Deacon Jack suddenly felt intense heat, then joy that he could only describe as if he were in the presence of the Lord, which he just wanted to experiece, being unaware of any others in his hospital room. The Nurses said he spent about 10-15 minutes like this, after which he could walk upright and without pain. A team of physicians documented that there was no medical or scientific explanation for this.

The Pillar and the Cloud
Lead, Kindly Light, amidst th' encircling gloom
Lead Thou me on!
The night is dark, and I am far from home --
Lead Thou me on!
Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see
The distant scene -- one step enough for me.

I was not ever thus, nor pray'd that Thou
Shouldst lead me on.
I loved to choose and see my path, but now
Lead Thou me on!
I loved the garish day, and, spite of fears,
Pride ruled my will: remember not past years.

So long Thy power hath blest me, sure it still
Will lead me on,
O'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till
The night is gone;
And with the morn those angel faces smile
Which I have loved long since, and lost awhile.

40 Days for Life Vigil Highlights

•Friday, March 18, there was a wind advisory, but we at 40 Days for Life think it was the Holy Spirit moving through the area. There was no parish was assigned. However, numerous faithful prayer volunteers and sidewalk counselors were there to hold down the fort throughout the day. A few faithful vigilers have made a commitment to be at the vigil EVERY day; others come often and stay for HOURS in the cold. Thank you for your sacrifice!

• Saturday, March 19, parishioners from St. Mary’s, North Grafton participated in the public vigil…and were joined at one point by our Heaven-sent neighborhood vigiler, Cecile (see photo on website).

After having only one person sign up after the Masses at St. Mary’s to pray at the vigil, despite encouragement from the pulpit by their pastor, Fr. Ray Goodwin, Julie had to come up with another way to get people to sign up. For those of us who have not always been successful enlisting prayer volunteers with sign up sheets, you may find this method helpful. Here’s how Julie did it: She asked the 4 members of the prolife ministry to each take a 3 hour shift to cover the 12 hour vigil day. Then each of the 4 committee members personally invited others to join them, either by calling them, or sending an email. Julie reports they had 14 people and many stayed beyond their 1 hour commitment. Julie gave each of the participants a “Precious Feet” pin and a prayer card with a prayer to close Planned Parenthood in Worcester.

• Tuesday, March 22 was an abortion day at Planned Parenthood, and a day with no parish assigned. We put out the call for prayer volunteers, and you responded to provide coverage.

• Wednesday, March 23 was the vigil day for St. George, Worcester, and an abortion day. It was yet another cold March day. Rod Murphy of Problem Pregnancy stopped by to say hello in the afternoon. St. George’s organizer, Stacy, brought her two month old son with her, and we think he holds the record for the youngest prayer volunteer of this campaign.

• Thursday, March 24 was an abortion day at Planned Parenthood, covered for part of the day by St. Mary’s in Milford. Faithful regular vigilers from a number of other parishes filled in the gaps.

• Friday, March 25 was covered by regular vigilers, including Fr. Larry, who comes each week.

• We end the week with bounty! This Saturday, March 26, prayer volunteers from all over the Diocese will be joining together to witness to life. The parish of St. Anne and St. Patrick in Sturbridge is assigned to cover the vigil. St. Bernadette’s parishioners who cannot make their assigned vigil day on Tuesday, will be coming on this, their alternate date. Members of the St. Benedict community, along with students from the IHM School, Still River will be at the vigil from 8:30-noon. And confirmation students from St. Joseph’s parish in Charlton are expected from 10:30-1.

If you are coming to the vigil this Saturday, please make sure that you are clear on where the buffer zone is located. If in doubt, stand across the street from Planned Parenthood. The Campaign Director and the Church Coordinator will be there to make sure that those representing 40 Days for Life know where to stand. We ask that you make sure passersby have room to walk on the sidewalk. We have notified the Worcester Police Department that we expect a larger than usual crowd.

The Week Ahead
The following parishes are scheduled:

Tuesday, March 29 – St. Bernadette
Thursday, March 31 – St. Joan of Arc & St. Mary, Uxbridge
Friday, April 1 – Holy Angels/St. Michael’s
Saturday, April 2 – St. Joseph, Charlton

If you are coordinating your parish vigil, please either enter the hours you have covered on the Vigil Schedule so your time can be recorded.
Housekeeping
•We’ve ordered more 40 Days for Life “Pray to End Abortion” signs which should arrive this week.
•If you plan to go to the vigil, please sign up on the Vigil Schedule so we get an idea of how much coverage we have. If you are hesitating to sign up because you don’t know the exact time you’ll be there or might not make it, don’t worry about that. Please sign up anyway. Your best guess is fine. : )

Fr. Corapi defended by Santa Cruz Media

Santa Cruz Media, Inc. is the owner of all of Fr. John Corapi’s intellectual property and the DVDs, CDs, and books that flow from it. We are a secular corporation and not affiliated with the Catholic Church in any way. As such, we are not under the jurisdiction of any bishop or other official in the Catholic Church, although we have the utmost respect for Church authority.

We fully support Rev. John Corapi in this terrible trial, not surprisingly having begun on Ash Wednesday. Through the sacrifice and struggle of the desert and all of the dark moments that this entails, we are confident that the glory of the risen Lord will shine forth from the power of the Resurrection and Easter.

We have consulted with a number of canon lawyers. They have assured us that the actions of the Bishop of Corpus Christi, Texas are, on several points of canon law, illicit. It is our fervent hope that The Dallas Charter will be changed because of false accusations like this. There is no evidence at this time that Fr. Corapi did anything wrong, only the unsubstantiated rant of a former employee, who, after losing her job with this office, physically assaulted me and another employee and promised to "destroy" Father Corapi. We all continue to pray for this person, and we ask you to do the same.

We sincerely believe that the work Fr. Corapi has done is of greatest value to the Church, hence hated by the devil. We fully intend to make Fr. Corapi’s material available as a service to the Church and the world for as long as we possibly can.

The Church provides no financial support to Fr. Corapi. He has to pay for his own legal representation, medical costs, food, housing, etc. We have never accepted donations or charitable contributions of any kind. We are supporting Father’s efforts to defend himself. Your purchase of products from Santa Cruz Media helps provide the funding for Father's continued work as well as the legal expenses he continues to incur as a result of these malicious allegations.

Father Corapi and all of us here at Santa Cruz Media, Inc. greatly appreciate your kindness, support, and prayers. Please continue to pray for Father Corapi and his accuser, as well as all priests who find themselves in this unfortunate situation.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bobbi Ruffatto

The affiliate of the national abortion business did not give any reasons for closing the locations in Groesbeck and Marlin, Texas. -- LifeNews.com Planned Parenthood of Northeast Ohio will be closing one of its centers north of Columbus, in Galion, because it says it is has come up on financial difficulties that make it necessary to consolidate.

Gay Marriage stopped in MD
"The Senate vote was definitely a wake-up call," said Minority Leader Nancy C. Jacobs (R-Harford). "It got the churches involved. It got people involved. Quite frankly, I thought it was going to fly through the House. But once delegates started hearing from their constituents, they started thinking twice."
Top Ten reasons why the this was able to be stopped:
1. They ignored the moderate conservative "experts."
2. Groups from everywhere became active.
3. Key activists worked really hard.
4. Outstanding leadership from politicians.
5. The churches got involved in a major way.
6. Fearless use of strong arguments.
7. Money was put to good use.
8. Ex-gay movement came in.
9. The Republican Party got involved.
10. Prayer.

Call Congress

Congress will vote Tuesday 3/15 on another temporary Continuing Resolution (CR) that will fund the federal government for three more weeks.

However, unlike the original long-term CR passed by the House, this CR includes continued funding for both Planned Parenthood and for abortions performed in D.C.

In other words, voting for this CR is a vote to continue funding for the largest abortion provider in the United States (Planned Parenthood)

Send an email to Congress right now.

Massresistence takes the fight to MD

MassResistance on front lines of "gay marriage" fight in Maryland . Bill gets stalled in House committee as 2 sponsors get cold feet!

Brian Camenker of MassResistance was interviewed during morning drive-time on WCBM radio in Baltimore. and warned Marylanders what would happen if same-sex marriage becomes legal in that State, as well as the nature of the homosexual political movement.

Listen Here

Maryland activists also made good use of the MassResistance information on What same-sex "marriage" has done to Massachusetts, and the federal judge's ruling against parents in the David Parker case (regarding homosexuality taught to kids without parents' knowledge or consent because of same-sex "marriage"). Most shocking and disgusting is the Little Black Book making the rounds of Massachusetts schools.

Greg Quilan also testified on the fallacy of 'born that way', as did

ANTHONY FALZERANO Testimony - Ex gay. Includes great discussion of the homosexual movement in America.

Please help with a donation if you can. The battle also rages in New Hampshire.

Call Sen. Brown now, (202) 224-4543

Call Sen. Brown now, (202) 224-4543 and ask him to defund Planned Parenthood. As a Pro-Choice fiscal conservative, even Sen. Brown has to recognize the irresponsability of Planned Parenthood, and must concede that those of us who are morally opposed to abortion should never be forced to fund it with our tax dollars.

Despite Mayor Tom Menino's misguided attempts to misrepresent the Pence Amendment, and Planned Parenthood's media barrage attempting to defend there abortion work, the Pence Amendment should be passed into Law to prevent Tax dollars from funding abortion.
