Despite the good news at the USCCB, I'm urging Catholics to donate their treasure (and time) to worthwhile Charities instead of the the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, CCHD, until troublesome groups have been removed from the grant list and the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has provided better oversight.
CCHD were caught giving money to Planned Parenthood about 12 years ago, and were supposedly reformed after that disgraceful event, yet have been found to donate to groups that publicly support abortion and same-sex marriage in contradiction to Catholic Church teaching.
This year I understand the USCCB group running CCHD will not release the names of grantees until after the collection. Not only does this group fund those who contradict Church teaching publicly, they violate the Church Concept of Subsidiarity.
Other Problems are documented here, while complete List of "troublesome" group funding has been compiled here
Michael Voris produced a news article on CCHD and the Boycott.
Note: Fr. Richard John Neuhaus wrote before his death, "Some bishops no longer allow the [C]CHD collection in their dioceses, and more should not allow it. In fact, [C]CHD, misbegotten in concept and corrupt in practice, should, at long last, be terminated."
Green Bay has joined a growing list of Dioceses not donating this year. While Reform may still be possible, this is a wait and see reform that still indactes prudence means withholding donations for now.
