Fred's son gave the details of his death:

He somehow fell down the cellar stairs leading from the bulkhead door to the basement. He hit his head hard on the cement floor and there was a lot of blood. He was found by a friend from Church - when he didn't show up for adoration Saturday evening. I was called and rushed to the hospital. Once I realized the gravity of the situation I asked the Priest on hand, Fr. Roche, to give my dad the Last Rites. I was with him all Saturday night in the ICU.

On Sunday a 2nd neurological evaluation done and at 1:29pm my dad was declared brain dead. Fr. Henry and Deacon Archie were there from St. George Church.
